Dear Summer: We miss you. Like, a lot. What’s with the crazy rain and wind, and quick arrival of night? Maybe I’m getting forgetful in my old age but I SWEAR last year’s September wasn’t as goomy as this. I was doing my daily HIIT in the park yesterday and literally couldn’t find a space that wasn’t litered by acorns and conkers. Which is suppose is something of a silver lining, since burpees were completely out of the question. What a shame…..
There are other silver-linings to the changing season – for a start, LFW is nearly here, when we get to see the collections we’ll all be wearing come Spring next year. And with slightly more immediacy, there’s the annual winter coat debate – camel, parka or bomber?? So many choices. What I wanted to talk more to you guys about, though, is the exciting array of new beauty products launching this month. I’m super excited to get my hands on some of these, so I’ve put together a cheat sheet of September’s Beauty Highlights.
Nails Inc girls have really nailed (sorry not sorry) the season this summer – Chromes, Unicorn Sparkle, Fluro Riot Raves… But sometimes having this much fun can be so exhausting. LUCKILY, their latest collection is infused with caffiene. Actual caffiene. And the shades are all coffee-related, too, which is just so incredibly pleasing. Their Caffeine Hit Rise and Grind shade is a total upper and has perked-up my Monday no end.
The limited edition Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous, £205 for 50ml, went on sale last week, following its debut on the Tom Ford SS18 runway in NYC. I’m told the key notes are things like almond bitter oil, leather accord, and clary sage oil – but frankly with a name like that, who really cares!? You can only get it at the Sloane Street boutique so you’d better get going.
Jo Malone London’s latest collection, The English Oak, is a totally mesmorising new journey that perfectly sums up the brand’s quinesentially English heritage and understated, unfussy simplicity. But there’s a twist to the scent, in the form of two options: bright, bewtiching redcurrant; or earthy, enticing hazlenut. Think nimble fairies, enchanted forests and beguiling scents. They’re setting the perfect scene for a true English countryside jaunt and it’s the perfect reminder that Autumn brings it’s own new opportunities, too. The two note options are strong and sophisticated alone, but layered together create a totally unique and slightly audacious experience. A must for your fragrance wardrobe this season.
I’ve been travelling loads recently, and have tried literally so many masks to wear mid-flight to prevent what I thought was inevitable dull, dryness on wheels-down. I’ve finally settled on Aveda Botanical Kinetics Intense Hydrating Masque, £28, because of the clever combination of cooling aloe, hydrating kelp, and calming rosewater. The oil-free masque completely eliminates dryness and leaves skin feeling plumped and nourished without clogging pores. Find out more about the Aveda story here:
