Last night was the annual Spectacle Wearer Of The Year Awards. Which essentially meant that a load of us got to together to drink the champagne we should have been avoiding (Stop-tober), wearing glasses we probably didn’t need (I felt left out. And what), to honour a shortlist of the year’s best speccy selfies. Which may sound incredibly self-indulgent, but actually it was all in aid of the charity Kidscape, which helps children who are suffering from bullying to take back control of their lives and build a future.
The photo-board was a who’s-who of celebrity spectacle wearers (which is surprisingly difficult to say – try it..), and the occasional funny type waiting to pounce with that super original Supersavers line. I’m sure you know the one – it’ll be plastered over tabloid sites this morning.
Bradley Walsh was hosting, Sarah Harding was DJ’ing, and Emma Bunton ended her reign as celebrity spectacle wearer of the year by handing the gauntlet to Anne Robinson. Who spent most of her acceptance speech trying to persuade us that the whole Weakest Link scary lady thang was just an act and that really she’s super sensitive and shy…..
I wore a bodycon LBD (note the long sleeves – I have an obsession with long sleeve dresses at the moment) and my favourite Lucy Choi heels. I’m not that confident in bodycon (my own style is – I guess – slightly grungey in comparison. But polished seemed more appropriate for the event), so picked an ASOS scuba jacket to go over the dress. And I’m glad I did – by the end of dinner my food baby needed covering up!
