As I’ve said (gone on about) before, I wear SPF every. single. day. So that part’s not a struggle. But what is, is the never-ending question of whether I’ll need a jacket.
I’ve just realised the abject British-ness about writing a blog post entirely around the weather, but honestly – weather-prediction and management is a serious occupation for all of us.
This morning, I went to a screening of Disney Pixar’s latest movie, Cars 3. I knew (read: prayed) it would probably be icily cold in the cinema, but that the journey was going to be a sweaty disaster. So layers was key. I chose a simple green dress by The Pretty Dress Company, and flung a lightweight jacket from JustFab over my shoulders. For once this was done out of necessity rather than as a pretentious blogger-shrobe. Which I fully admit to doing 90% of the time, whilst quietly shivering half to death because my arms aren’t in their sleeves.
For shoes, I had a tricky conundrum. I wanted a bit of height, but not heels. It’s a children’s’ film, afterall. And whilst a trainer – wedged or otherwise – might usually fit the bill, I wanted to maximise my skin-to-air ratio. So I compromised with a pair of bejewelled Mode In Pelle slip-on flatforms. I kept jewellery simple with a Soru velvet choker and white Accurist watch.
