Yesterday was the now-annual Hedsor House summer party in Buckinghamshire. I know this because I was there as a guest of my awesome friend Pips Taylor. Pips had a 2-hour set during the party, and she KILLED it. Obviously.
If you don’t know it, Hedsor House is a fairly epic country estate in the countryside. It’s actually a private residence (I think) but the family opens it up in the summer for events like this.
The house itself is absolutely vast and just beaut. There’s an insanely grand staircase just past the reception hall, and the rear dining room would make for an amazing cartwheeling competition. Not that I tried. Honest.
The main party, though, was outside – which worked since we’ve had this awesome weather recently. To the right as you arrived was the food area – platters and plates of everything yummy plus satellite areas packed with every condiment or side you can possible think of. To the left and down the slope slightly was the bar area and DJ bit.
The bar was run in conjunction with Mahiki, which meant everything was bright and floral. And yes, they were serving pina colada in pineapples. Obviously..
Around two drinks down, Elsbeth and I spotted the coquet lawns just behind where everyone was chilling. We played “golf croquet”, which is a slight simplified version of the traditional game, in that you don’t roquet off the other team’s balls. Which is possibly the best few words I’ve ever written on this blog.
Ashley was there with little Snoop, who was having an absolute BLAST running around the grounds.
When it was time to go, we found our fleet of Karhoo taxis chilling out the front. Karhoo is a new taxi app which lets you compare and book cars from multiple different companies – ours were AddLee, for example.
